The president of Nintendo of America, Doug Bowser, announced on September 26, 2025, that he would officially retire on December 31, ending his 10-year tenure as president of Paradise and five years of office.
Doug Bowser joined the United States of America in 2015 for positions in the marketing department and, in 2019, succeeded Reggie Fils-Aimé as president.
Bowser is relatively low-key in public after taking office, compared to his style, but still attends a number of physical direct-to-face meetings, Nintendo Direct, and other major events, including the recent opening of the new San Francisco Nintendo, which successfully led America to the critical turn of Switch to Switch 2.
It is worth mentioning that Bowser’s last name is exactly the same as that of Super Mario’s great monster, Bowser (Kuba), who was described by the player as “the president of the real version of Kuba” when he took over the Internet with jokes like “Kuba has taken Nintendo!” and “True Kuba has come to play!”
Bowser is also happy to accept and call on his netizens to play this game, often concealing Kuba dolls in public or during media visits, and becoming a subject for fans.
“My life in Nintendo began in college and has been on the street for 44 years now. It is a great honour for me to serve this great company and bring games and roles to the world. I will continue to support Nintendo as a fan in the future.”
“Today, I have announced a plan to retire from Nintendo, which has been an integral part of my life since 31 December 2025 and has been in place for 44 years, starting with Donkey Kong Arcade, when I was a child. It is an honour and an honour to contribute to this incredible company.”
Bowser 的后任将由目前的美国任天堂行销与使用者体验部门高层德文・普里查德（Devon Pritchard） 接任，这位老将在任天堂耕耘多年，曾负责推动多项战略与成长计划，其升任将写下美国任天堂史上第一位女性社长的新页。
普里查德在 LinkedIn 声明表示：
「任天堂的角色与世界能够触动所有年龄层，我的目标是延续这份惊喜与乐趣，不仅回馈长期支持的粉丝，也要迎接更多新玩家加入任天堂大家庭。」
同时，曾任澳洲与欧洲任天堂负责人的柴田聪（Satoru Shibata） 也将加入美国任天堂担任执行长一职，并继续保有日本任天堂的董事执行役员（Executive Officer）身份。普里查德则会进入美国任天堂董事会，并成为日本总公司的执行役员之一。
对于 Doug Bowser 即将退休，任天堂社长古川俊太郎在一份新闻稿的感言表示：
在任职期间，Doug 为任天堂相关的所有人带来了无数欢笑与笑容，做出了极大的贡献。我想对他长期以来的努力表达感谢。即将接任社长的 Devon 这些年同样对任天堂有许多贡献。我深信她将会像 Doug 一样，持续支持任天堂「创造笑容」这项重要使命。
